                FEAR - NUNYA GEMEGAH (13/11/2013)
"Everyone's life is driven by something. Right now you may be driven by a problem, a pressure or a deadline. You may be driven by a painful memory, a fear or unconscious belief, what is the driving force in your life?"- Rick Warren.

Though this is extremely paraphrased in Rick Warren's "A purpose driven life" he addresses the need to assess what motivates us to do the things we do, highlighting the importance of self evaluation in order to live a life filled with purpose as well as a life for your self. It is odd how many of our emotions we allow to control our self development as apposed to allowing our emotions to show case our characters.
At some point in our day to day lives we are bound to encounter fear. We usually brush or laugh it off .Yet one thing people fail to realize is that in order to build our emotional maturity and overall level of experience and endurance, it is important to understand that weakness is not found in being afraid but on how much of an effect we allow fear to have on us.

As time has passed I've come to terms with, and in turn gained comfort from the fact that emotions never sustain their intensity. As blinding and overwhelming as they are as soon as they are triggered, they are inevitable to fade, but does that alter their relevance?
We live our lives either avoiding certain emotions such as confusion, fear, vulnerability and hurt or chasing the euphoric warmth associated with love and happiness.

Personally, fear is the emotion that dominates our lives, steering each decision we make, whether it is a positive choice, or one that stunts our growth. For example, we strive to succeed in fear of wasting our lives, going through our existence un-noticed and unappreciated. If religious; we fear our creator, facing punishment in the life that follows as a result of disobeying an omnipotent God like figure, even the idea of there being a creator at all. Even the way we tirelessly protect the ones we love in fear of losing them. One question worth asking is whether or not you can afford to live your life imprisoned by your fears or finding ways in which you can take practical steps towards overcoming them.
